At Proex Football, our mission has always been to help ambitious young players reach the highest level possible.
Because of this, we are delighted to be in a position to have an exciting partnership with the Wellington Phoenix Academy, creating an exclusive annual pathway for our players.
Each year, Proex Football has committed to sending a small number of players (minimum of 1) who we believe are ready, to experience a 3–5 day Academy Training Opportunity with the Wellington Phoenix Academy, beginning in 2027.
During this experience, the selected player(s) will train alongside academy players, immerse themselves in a professional environment, and be coached and observed closely by academy coaches.
The best part? There is NO COST to the selected player(s) or their families.
Proex Football will fully fund the entire opportunity.
Head Coach Danny Ledwith says "this partnership is extremely important to us here at Proex Football. It is a no nonsense agreement that helps players go further in the game. There is no fine print, there is no hoops to jump through, this is simple. If we believe you are good enough and have a chance, WE WILL GET YOU THERE. We will reduce any barriers including cost to support you and your dream. Making it as a professional and being a professional is a huge sacrifice and takes an unbelievable amount of effort - but if you are willing to put the work in and truly push yourself, we can create opportunities for you.

It means standing out regularly in everything you do.
It means working harder than everyone else all of the time.
It means being an absolute master of the basics.
It means wanting to be the best player in the warm up.
It means that you are willing to get on the ball in tight areas.
It means you are unbeatable in 1v1 situations.
It means you work as hard defensively as when you have the ball.
Being in Otago is no longer an excuse, there is a clear pathway there - lets see who wants it most."
Proex Football will pay for at least one player to go and test themselves on the biggest stage in New Zealand, EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.
How do I get selected?
This is not an opportunity that players can apply for. We will nominate players based on consistent performance, technical ability, game understanding, attitude, work ethic and professionalism over time. We will not shy away from the fact that the level required is very high, and the effort and commitment needed is of the highest standards. Maintaining the integrity of this pathway is incredibly important to us.
This partnership represents a significant step in our commitment to creating genuine player pathways for footballers in Dunedin, and we are extremely grateful to the Wellington Phoenix Academy for their support with this venture.
